Hunter x Hunter Returns With Chapter 411. Jump Only Promised One Chapter

Issue 31 of Weekly Shonen Jump will carry the first new Hunter x Hunter chapter in 567 days. The most important detail is in what the official announcement did not say.

On June 29, Hunter x Hunter returns to Weekly Shonen Jump with chapter 411, the first new chapter since December 9, 2024. The gap comes to 567 days. Shueisha confirmed the publication in issue 31 of the magazine and also set volume 39, titled Negotiation, for July 3.

The word “return”, though, needs care. The official announcement promises the publication of chapter 411. It does not confirm a weekly run, a ten-chapter block or a new periodicity. After years in which every reappearance by Yoshihiro Togashi was treated as “the serialization is back”, the editorial language itself has become more precise. That is the Japan-first detail of the news.

In 2022, Jump ended the work’s traditional weekly format and said it would support Togashi with a publication model compatible with his health. Since then, Hunter x Hunter does not behave like a series that simply enters and leaves a fixed grid. Each chapter is treated as an editorial unit that has to be ready before it gets a date.

The most revealing detail sits in that gap between production and publication. In April, Togashi wrote that the character art for chapter 430 was finished, but asked readers to wait for the editorial team’s announcement on when the chapters from 420 onward would be published. There is material in progress well beyond chapter 411. That does not mean there is a public schedule for it.

The story continues in the Succession Contest arc, aboard the Black Whale, where princes, bodyguards, the Phantom Troupe and the mafia fight for room in a narrative that has long pushed Gon and Killua out of the centre. Chapter 410 ended with new pieces being set around Prince Halkenburg and the contest for the throne of Kakin. The teaser for the new chapter only hints at what becomes of Kurapika and his allies.

Hunter x Hunter is coming back. What has not come back is the certainty that there will be a chapter the following week. For a work bound to the body of its own author, that distinction does not shrink the news. It is the news.
